DARK HORSE RECOVERY
WHO WE SERVE
A Dark Horse
A previously less known person that emerges to prominence!
“We welcome all but are especially honored to support the dark horses who feel as though nothing has worked”
Patricia Plum, Founder, Dark Horse Recovery
Collaborative Care
We have multiple group homes so that each one can be dedicated to serving residents with particular similarities so that they feel more comfortable around each other, and receive care specialized around their specific needs. In pursuit of providing the best treatment possible, we cautiously evaluate all potential residents to ensure they will be the right fit, and won’t disrupt the ability of other residents to receive the help they need. Creating the right team and resident environment is crucial for amplifying the ability for everyone to recover more effectively, and we believe it is our duty to carefully guard this healing space.
In order to be accepted into one of our homes, residents must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a mental health diagnosis
- Have the self-desire to recover
- Be able to physically take care of oneself (not in need of daily nursing care or assisted living)
- Have a referral from a provider recommending this level of care due to mental health needs
If you don’t meet these requirements, please reach out to us to find out the best options specifically for you
Signs that you're ready for treatment
Do you medicate the silence?
When it’s quiet and you are alone, do want to “do something” to escape the noise in your head or the feelings in your body? Have you turned to substances to numb the pain and drown out the thoughts?
Addiction is a symptom of a much larger problem. It starts as a support, a helper if you will, trying to help an individual cope with emotions that feel overwhelming. Then it changes and begins to harm, even destroy the person it was attempting to help. It becomes a problem all on its own and one that people often need support in addressing.
Are your thoughts stealing your life?
Do your thoughts seem to run wild, never giving you a break? Do you get fixated on the negative in life, negative about others, about you? Have you tried to change your thoughts, only for it to feel as though it will never work.
Raising negative thoughts, deep dread for the tasks that lay ahead, a sense of hopelessness can all be symptoms of a much deeper issue. Depression and anxiety are often rooted in our trauma and have us trapped in our past.
